Broadcast Delivery

Here is how this works in practice. We prepare broadcast-delivery masters against AS-11 specs for the three primary NZ free-to-air and pay TV networks. TVNZ (TV1, TV2, Duke and the TVNZ+ catch-up sites). MediaWorks Three (and the ThreeNow streaming service that continues after Newshub's closure in mid-2024). Sky NZ (paid satellite with the Neon SVOD service). NZ on Air-funded shoots follow specific tagging, captioning, and metadata needs that we encode into MXF wrappers per delivery.

Here is how this works in practice. Park Road Post Wellington, Pop Productions, Resolved Pictures, and Top Films all keep certified delivery rooms with QC-pass-then-deliver pipelines validated by Vidchecker, Baton, and Cortex. Audio targets are EBU R128 loudness-normalised to -23 LUFS for broadcast, with 5.1 surround masters held alongside stereo masters. HLG is the broadcast HDR format. Co-productions with UK TV networks (BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, ITVX) lock to DPP AS-11 UK HD and DPP UHD specs with metadata schemas that we encode and check before transmission upload.

Here is the short of it. NZ broadcast heritage runs through TVNZ's role as state TV networks since the 1960s, MediaWorks Three's commercial network, and Sky NZ's satellite paid carrier. The 1987 Māori Language Act and the 2006 NZ Sign Language Act drive accessibility deliverables — burned-in captions, IMSC1 sidecars, audio description, and NZSL signed inserts where fitting — on state-funded content. Te reo Māori and Pacific-language captions (Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands Māori, Niuean) commonly go with broadcast deliveries to satisfy Te Tiriti partnership and Pasifika audience commitments. Privacy Act 2020 chain-of-custody, AWS Auckland Region storage, GST 15 percent, NZD invoicing, ACC universal accident cover, and zero capital gains tax apply across delivery engagements.
