SCENE 01 / MULTI CAMERA SETUPS
Multi-Camera Setups
Professional live event coverage and multi-camera production across New Zealand.
Multi-camera setups deploy two or more cameras simultaneously to capture comprehensive coverage of scenes, events, or performances. From All Blacks rugby tests at Eden Park to concerts at Spark Arena Auckland and TSB Bank Arena Wellington, this approach maximizes shooting efficiency, preserves performance continuity, and provides editors with multiple angles from each take.
We coordinate multi-camera configurations with matched camera bodies, synchronized settings, and integrated monitoring systems across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown. Our team works alongside the broadcast infrastructure connected to Stone Street Studios — home of Lord of the Rings and Avatar — and the world-class technical talent built around Weta FX and Park Road Post.

Multi-Camera Rigs for NZ Sport, Live Events, and Format TV
Here is how this works in practice. Our multi-camera setups in New Zealand scale from 4-camera ENG-style corporate keynote rigs to 20+ camera live-broadcast packages for All Blacks rugby at Eden Park Auckland (50K+ capacity) and Sky Stadium Wellington, Black Caps cricket at Bay Oval Mount Maunganui and Hagley Oval Christchurch, Super Rugby Pacific fixtures, and major concerts at Spark Arena (12K) and Western Springs Stadium (50K outdoor).
Here is how this works in practice. Standard rigs combine Sony HDC-3500 / HDC-P50, Panasonic AK-UC4000, and Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 packages with Blackmagic ATEM Constellation 8K / 4 M/E switchers, Riedel Bolero / Clear-Com FreeSpeak II intercom, and full talkback fabric. Reality and format TV runs 6-8 camera observational rigs with Atomos Connect / Teradek Bolt 4K wireless monitoring. Scripted multi-cam projects in the Top of the Lake (Queenstown) and Power of the Dog custom use 3-camera narrative coverage with synchronised timecode.
Here is the short of it. America's Cup 2021 (NZ-defended in Auckland). The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 (co-hosted across Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Dunedin) established the country's tier-one multi-cam credentials, with later demand spanning Tourism New Zealand brand activations, Live Nation NZ concert promotion, and broadcast partnerships with TVNZ, Three NZ, Sky Sport NZ, and Spark Sport. We bundle Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) frequency licensing through Tait Communications (Christchurch — global radio comms manufacturer), MEAA-Equity NZ reciprocal credentialing for trans-Tasman crew rotation under the 3-hour Sydney-Auckland flight window, WorkSafe NZ compliance, ACC universal accident insurance, and iwi/hapū consultation where culturally major whenua are involved (Eden Park, Tongariro Crossing endurance events, Lake Taupo Ironman). NZSPG 20% + 5% productivity uplift records runs through the The country Film Commission where the live event ties to a qualifying production package.
FAQ
Live Production Expertise
How many cameras can you deploy?
We regularly operate setups from 3 to 12+ cameras depending on event scale. For major concerts at Spark Arena or rugby broadcasts at Eden Park, we can deploy extensive camera packages including specialty positions like jibs, roving cameras, and POV units.
Do you provide live switching and direction?
Yes, our multi-camera packages include experienced vision mixers and directors who switch between cameras in real-time, creating a polished live edit. We can deliver a switched program feed, ISO recordings, or both.
Can you live stream our event?
Yes, we provide complete live streaming services including encoding, CDN delivery, and platform management for YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, or custom platforms. We can also provide satellite uplink for broadcast.
What about IMAG for live audiences?
We provide IMAG (Image Magnification) services for concerts and events, feeding live camera coverage to venue screens so audiences can see close-ups of performers and speakers.
Do you have OB van facilities?
We work with professional OB (Outside Broadcast) vans equipped with switching desks, monitoring, audio mixing, and all necessary infrastructure. Sky Sport NZ and TVNZ operate experienced OB units suitable for sport and entertainment broadcasts.
How far in advance should we book?
For major events, we recommend booking 4-6 weeks ahead to ensure equipment availability and proper planning. Smaller multi-camera shoots can often be arranged with 1-2 weeks notice.
