Here is how this works in practice. We book foley sessions at Park Road Post Wellington, the site that pioneered today's foley pipelines on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and continues to service Avatar: The Way of Water, The Hobbit, King Kong, Mortal Engines, The Power of the Dog, and Rings of Power. Park Road's foley pits include hardwood, gravel, concrete, water, snow, leaf-litter, and metal grates, with prop libraries tuned across costume eras and creature movement.

Here is how this works in practice. Sessions run Pro Tools HDX with Avid S6 desks and Schoeps and DPA condenser arrays calibrated for the room. Walking, cloth movement, and specifics passes are typically captured separately for downstream mix flexibility. Native Audio in The capital and Imagezoo in Auckland handle overflow scheduling. Department of Post handles boutique stage work. Final foley stems are delivered in DX, FX, and BG splits with sync-locked picture, ready for the dub stage and stamped against the AS-11 broadcast or IMF streaming specs the production targets.

Here is the short of it. NZ foley heritage runs through Park Road Post's Lord of the Rings work. This added to the Return of the King 2003 Sound Editing and Sound Mixing Oscar wins — the foley pits used on that production are still in service for today's features. Howard Shore's three Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings scores were finished alongside the foley sessions on the same Wellington campus.
