Medical Services

Pro on-set medical coverage keeping your New Zealand production crew safe and \t\t\t\t\t\tcompliant.

Here is how this works in practice. New Zealand presents unique health and safety considerations for film shoots, from variable maritime weather with rapid Alpine changes to the challenges of shooting across Southern Alps, fiordlands, volcanic plateaus, and pristine coastline. New Zealand's ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) no-fault injury scheme and WorkSafe NZ standards set specific standards for on-set medical provision that each production must meet. Our medical pros know these local needs and make sure your crew stays safe whether filming in Wellington, Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch, or at remote locations across the country.

Here is the short of it. We connect you with qualified medical pros skilled in the specific demands of film production across New Zealand. Our network has on-set medics, paramedics, and safety consultants who know both New Zealand healthcare protocols and production workflows, giving appropriate medical support from remote Fiordland wilderness and alpine backcountry locations to major studio shoots.

On Location

On-set medics — ACC universal cover, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, St John ambulance NZ-wide

Here is how this works in practice. Our on-set medical services place NZ Registered Nurses (RN. NZNC-registered) and St John Ambulance-trained paramedics at production locations across Auckland (Auckland Film Studios, Kumeu Film Studios for Avatar 2/3, Henderson Studios), Wellington (Stone Street Studios, Park Road Post adjacent), Queenstown (servicing Fiordland and Mackenzie Country wilderness shoots), Christchurch, and rural North Island shoots.

Here is how this works in practice. Each medic station carries Defibrillator-AED kits, oxygen, advanced first-aid trauma kits, snake-bite kits (NZ has no native snakes but global shoots may bring trained animals), heat / cold injury running for Southern Hemisphere shoots, and on-call pro liaison with Auckland Hospital, The capital Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, and Dunedin Hospital tertiary care units. For wilderness shoots in Fiordland, Aoraki/Mount Cook, Mount Aspiring, and Tongariro, we set up Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Greenlea Rescue Helicopter, and Otago Regional Rescue helicopter EMS with pre-positioned landing zone clearance and trauma centre direct-line activation.

Here is the short of it. ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) gives universal no-fault accident insurance auto covering all film crew working in NZ including global visiting crew — this is NZ's signature workplace-injury insurance scheme, registered through IRD for production crew buy-in. Auckland Hospital, Wellington Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, and Dunedin Hospital handle tertiary trauma and pro care. Global medevac sets up through Air New Zealand commercial medevac, Aerorescue Australia for trans-Tasman repatriation, and LA cross-border aeromedevac for US shoots via 12-hour direct AKL-LAX flights. WorkSafe NZ governs on-set safety protocols, including for shoots covering Pacific (Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands Māori, Niuean) and Māori cast / crew members. Iwi consultation covers cultural protocols around tapu material handling, mate (death) protocols, and karakia (blessing) lodging for trauma incidents on iwi land. GST 15 percent applies on NZD-invoiced medical-service engagements.
